Recently, one had the opportunity to take a bus to the campus and retrace a few student memories. Huffing and puffing up those once architecturally futuristic steps, I found myself thirsting for something to drink and munch on until I saw the costs and settled for a chocolate cookie and a cup of hot water. $l.80 for the cookie and 20 cents for the ‘beverage.’ Academically speaking, the thought occurred, ‘generally’ speaking of course, perhaps they’ve lost their faculties.
HERE WE GO. H2O!
It simply doesn’t fizz on me how on earth H2O could be capped retail for more than a bottle of ROOT BEER. Those thirsty currents that today so freely FLOW, have dried up any fluid logic, I FEAR.
Now us seniors, never thought when we were kids that could ever BE. A bottle of soda pop was a dime or LESS and good water, like oxygen, came FREE. Some of us thirst for sanity, I CONFESS.
Just a bit of food for THOUGHT, some parts of ‘progress’ in this second and ‘more progressive’ 2nd millennium isn’t quenching our APPETITE. Many still remember what a dollar once BOUGHT. If Benjamin Franklin were around today, he’d probably suggest to a few of those ‘idealistic’ smart cookies to go fly a KITE.
