Without the efforts of a famous Canadian by the name of Tommy Douglas, who fought a hard and long battle to make our national medical health Medicare programs a reality, what could have materialized instead? Yet, one ponders, given the exponential costs of today’s pharmaceuticals, dentistry, and even parking, whether in retrospect these costs might have been included under the same protective umbrella.
Now days parking at or near hospitals and medical clinics in urban areas is also no longer a ‘pretty penny’. The following bit of rhyme evolved recently on a restaurant napkin while having a coffee recently in Vancouver, on the way to a doctor’s appointment.
IMPROVING OUR HEALTH CARE TRACK RECORD FURTHER
His medical legacy remains a great ethical vision.
In Canada, to Tommy Douglas, we are truly indebted.
In 2018 pharmaceuticals, dentistry, and even patient parking,
some of us are sure wishin’.
That those three overlooked areas were also included,
he might have in retrospect regretted.
Further improving our Health Care track record.
