How about “Honest Nat’s Dept. Store,” aired on stations like ‘WX’, ’NW’ and ‘OR’. In your head, can you still hear, “Canada Trust - Huron and Erie,” and that chocolate BAR, “Oh Henry, Oh Henry, the King of Candyland,” and “Ajax, boom, boom, can take us FAR…away”, back to the 1950s when Bob Hutton was a local radio STAR.
So many more independent ma and pa SHOPS. Sneezing powder and invisible ink at the Krak-A-JOKE. There was the Dominion Theatre and Maple Leaf Barbers on DUNSMUIR. It cost a dime for a telephone call, coffee, tea, or a COKE. Do some of those old time radio jingles still bring back Vancouver? FOR SURE.
