The sounds of a Johnson or Evinrude, and after going fishing, heading home to watch that seventeen inch Motorola. Those were Admiral occasions, when we were kids memorized with the RCA bought from Eaton’s store; getting up early, just to stare in wonder at the test pattern, waiting for, like magic, entertainment in living black and white. Watching the good old Howdy Doody Show on NBC was fun, there was no colour peacock yet.
Things have changed a tad since then, eh? Do you recall when jawbreakers cost three for a penny, does that evoke an early 1950s appetite? Maybe, as a kid, you were envious of folks with aerials or antennas on rooftops while you had to survive on only two channels using rabbit ears and a screen which had plenty of snow. Sometimes, if we were lucky, we could pull in KVOS Bellingham.
Where did all those days go? How about a bit of show biz recollection?
Sinatra sang, It was a very good year, and what a thrill it was to hear Fats Dominos sing Blueberry Hill.
What about the British invasion, flying in to New York to appear?
Their first show on Ed Sullivan, many a senior remembers that still.
For many performers, it was a hard day’s night how music began to change. With Elvis, so much change also began to rock and roll, it was a long way from Home On The Range.
There was Ray Charles’ Busted, did he ever have soul!

Leonard Cohen’s Susanne took us down to the river.
Today, so many questions are ‘blowing in the wind’.
Like looking at a sunflower, so many memories keep on drifting in.
